One of the oldest student houses in Poland, put into service in 1930. You can meet students from every faculty here. It has over 900 places in almost 500 rooms. It is located at Narutowicza Square, between the Bratniak-Muszelka and Pineska-Tulipan

Rooms and their facilities:

The dormitory currently has 54 single rooms with an area of approx. 9-12 m², 344 double rooms with an area of approx. 10-19 m², including 14 with private bathrooms, 43 triple rooms with an area of approx. 14-16 m² and 6 quadruple rooms with an area of approx. 25-31 m². Each room is equipped with all necessary furniture, a sink or washbasin and a refrigerator.

Rooms are numbered clockwise from the main staircase. Even numbers are on the outside, odd numbers on the inside (though there are exceptions).

The residential section is equipped with four lifts: two stopping at the half floors of the main staircase, one stopping at the floors from the first floor (on the right) and one cargo lift for staff use (on the left).

Please note: the third floor cannot be accessed by lift or the main staircase.

Check-in process:

Go to the administration office – room 493. Bring a photograph for the resident card. It is best to fill in the questionnaire and room equipment card before entering. At the administration office, we complete the formalities and collect the key, bed linen and, if necessary, curtains for the room and a desk lamp.

Check-out process:

Collect the circulation card from the administration office. Clean the room and give the card to the cleaner to sign. Return the equipment and key to the administration office and complete the formalities.

Bathrooms:

Co-ed bathrooms, usually with 8 shower cubicles and 12 toilets per floor.

Kitchens:

One kitchen per floor, usually with four cookers with ovens and four burners.

Laundries:

Laundry rooms on the 3rd and 6th floors, with a total of 6 washing machines and 2 dryers, PLN 5–5.77 per wash and PLN 2–2.31 / 35 min, PLN 4-4.61 / 70 min per dry.

Drying rooms:

There are drying rooms in rooms 396 and 873. You must have your own dryer. Please do not use the drying racks located there without the owners' permission. The rooms are monitored.

Rooms and utility spaces:

Room rental (except for the banquet hall, which operates under slightly different rules) is arranged by contacting one of the caretakers and collecting the key in exchange for your resident card, after reading and accepting the rules and regulations.

Banquet hall − room 202:

A room that can accommodate a social gathering for 30 people. It has large tables and benches, a sound system and disco lighting. It also hosts integration events for residents. To rent the room, please contact the room supervisor and prepare a guest list. You must obtain permission to organise an event from the room supervisor and the dormitory Administrator. Finally, leave the document with the guest list at the reception desk and collect your guests from there.

Music room − room 291:

A soundproofed room equipped with musical instruments.

TV room − room 408:

A room for approx. 30 people equipped with a projector and sound system. An ideal place to watch a film or sporting event. Some meetings of the Council of Residents and Programme Committees are also held here.

Fitness gym (formerly ladies' gym) − room 502:

Before using the gym, you must sign a certificate confirming that you have no health contraindications. The gym is equipped with various machines and sports equipment, such as a treadmill, exercise bike, barbells, trampoline, resistance bands and weights, allowing you to do many effective workouts.

Billiard room − room 539:

Probably the most popular room in the dormitory. It has a pool table and a dartboard.

Quiet study rooms − room 635 and 817:

Rooms equipped with several desks, chairs and lamps. A good place to study in peace, either alone outside your own room or in a group.

Parking − courtyard:

Parking for residents is located in the courtyard, known as "Studnia". Usually, at the beginning of the academic year, there is a parking campaign. It is worth applying early, as the number of car spaces is limited. The fee is PLN 56 per month for a car and PLN 25 per month for a motorbike, paid only by card at the administration office. To apply outside the main campaign, please contact us by email at Akademik@samorzad.pw.edu.pl.

Bicycle storage room – ground floor:

The bicycle storage room is located on the ground floor, next to the exit to ‘Studnia’ from the Pineska side. The room is only accessible to its users. As with the car park, we organise registration campaigns. The bicycle storage room has 43 spaces and is available free of charge. To apply outside the main campaign, please contact us by email at Akademik@samorzad.pw.edu.pl.

Sports facilities:

There is a gym and two exercise rooms on the ground floor. Physical education classes are held there, and they are also available to residents with a signed health declaration on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7.15 pm to 10.15 pm. during the academic year. Residents can also use the fitness gym in room 502.

Small shopping:

On the ground floor, there is a well-stocked grocery shop, open Monday to Saturday from 7am to 11pm and on Sundays from 10am to 8pm.

In addition, there is a 24-hour self-service shop, a coffee machine and vending machines with cold drinks.

Internet access:

Internet access in rooms is provided via a wired connection. You must have your own Ethernet cable. During check-in, we collect a token from the administration, then, after connecting the device to the network, we create an account on the website https://net.ds.pw.edu.pl and register the device. If you want to connect more devices, fill in the form on the website and contact the IT Centre. Connecting your own Wi-Fi access points is prohibited.
In some places in the corridor, there is access to the pw.edu.pl and eduroam Wi-Fi networks.

Taking out the rubbish:

Sorted rubbish should be disposed of in the appropriate containers in the courtyard. Please do not leave your rubbish on the corridors, in bathrooms or kitchens.

What is best to bring with you from home before arrival?

Electric kettle, toaster, dishes, pots, iron, clothes dryer. It is worth agreeing with your roommate not to duplicate items.

It is worth preparing a paper photograph in 4.5 x 3.5 cm format for your resident card.

What is not worth taking because it is provided by the Student House or Council of Residents?

The hall of residence provides bed linen, curtains and a bedside lamp. Vacuum cleaners can be borrowed from the administration (during working hours; please leave your resident card) or from the Council of Residents (room 708; self-service; please do not knock on the door).

Reporting faults

Please report any faults by making an entry in the logbook at the reception desk. Minor faults are dealt with immediately. More complex issues are resolved as quickly as possible.

Rules for hosting guests

Between 7am and 11pm, simply go down to the reception to collect your guest, show your resident card and enter their details in the visitors’ log.

To extend a guest’s stay overnight, you must obtain permission from the Residents’ Council in one of two ways. The first is to complete the form available at sspw.pl/noclegowki. Once the application has been approved by a member of the Residents’ Council, the guest must sign in the system. The information is then forwarded to the reception. The other method is to fill in a paper overnight stay form and obtain a signature from a member of the Residents’ Council. You must take the completed and signed form to the reception by 11 pm.

A guest may stay on the hall of residence premises for a maximum of 3 consecutive nights, or 5 nights in a month.
